SUMMARY
  • The program/J-1 Visa requires interns to carry U.S. medical insurance during their stay in the U.S.
  • The intern is responsible for referring to their copy of the insurance policy for coverage details, limits and exclusions.
  • Interns are encouraged to also keep their French supplementary insurance.

DOCTORS & CLINCS
  • A list of available doctors/hospitals can be found on the Intern Wiki or through a search at www.iees.com
CARDS & CO-PAYMENTS
  • Each intern has a medical insurance card, which they should carry at all times.
  • Co-payments are due at the time of service
FORMS
  • Forms must be completed on a timely basis to ensure the health provider is reimbursed promptly. Failure to file the paperwork may result in the provider billing the intern for the entire office visit and care.
  • It is suggested that the intern bring a blank form to the visit for assistance in completing. Forms can be downloaded below or at www.iees.com/keydocs/claims/bcsclaimform.pdf .
  • The intern must mail the completed paperwork to IEES.
BENEFITS / COVERAGE
  • The intern is responsible for referring to their copy of the insurance policy for coverage details, limits and exclusions
  • Intern medical insurance coverage begins on arrival in the US, not prior to August 1, 2009 and expires June 30, 2010. Interns staying beyond June 30th must purchase additional 30-day coverage through IEES at full premium cost
  • Prescriptions are reimbursed 100%. Interns will pay for prescriptions at the time of purchase, and then complete and submit the required paperwork to IEES for reimbursement. Forms can be downloaded below or at www.iees.com/keydocs/claims/bcsclaimform.pdf.
