October 2012 - Free Flu Vaccination for Interns

Influenza, more commonly called “the flu” is an upper respiratory illness caused by the influenza virus. Influenza usually comes on suddenly. For some people it’s mild. Others have serious complications. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, each year in the United States, more than 200,000 people are hospitalized with flu complications. The best way to prevent getting the flu is to receive the flu vaccine every year.

Details:

1. Please sign up here by October 20th.

2. Meet on Tuesday, October 23th at 3:15pm in the Normandale lobby (Valley View Interns, please take the activity bus to Normandale).

3. We will walk together to South View Middle School, Door 7.

4. Someone from the Intern Committee will bring a check to cover the cost of the vaccinations (no cost to the interns).

5. The Intern Committee will arrange for transportation home (please sign up so we can plan accordingly).

More about Flu vaccination:

Both the Flu Shot and Flu Mist (intranasal vaccine) will all be available.

You should NOT receive the vaccine at this clinic IF:

  • If you are allergic to any component of the flu vaccine (including eggs).
  • If you have had Guillain-Barre Syndrome (sometimes called French Polio) within 6 weeks of receiving a previous flu vaccination.
