Hosting brings a French-speaking young adult into your home, giving you the opportunity to learn about French culture and speak French in a casual, family setting. For many families, hosting an intern is the highlight of their children’s years in French Immersion and is the beginning of a lasting and valuable friendship. The sharing between an intern and host family has an enduring impact, opening doors in a way few Americans experience.

What will You Gain From Hosting...

  • As a host family, you will gain friendship, understanding, knowledge and a connection to the world.
  • You will experience new tastes and customs.
  • Your children will learn from an international big sister or brother, which may benefit their own language studies.
  • Long-lasting relationships that may develop between your family and the intern may lead to ongoing exchanges of friendship and hospitality.
  • Learning about another culture may create new interests in travel and international issues.
  • You may also gain a new perspective of Americans and American culture as seen through the intern’s eyes. Perhaps you may broaden your own opinions, beliefs and values.
